Ace and Zora, a pair of sex robots created for man’s hedonistic desires, are on the run from law enforcement. But do they have what it takes to fight against the world that built them?

From the mind of Paul Allor comes a five-issue cyberpunk miniseries about two lovers caught in the maelstrom of a dystopian patriarchy hellbent on hunting them down. Right off the rip of the comic, there’s an immediate and blatant display of this society’s values (or lack thereof) in the form of a misogynistic discussion between two truckers; however, it’s a good thing Ace is on the case to interrupt it with a loud, unapologetic bang.

I’m new to Ermitis Blanco’s artwork, but am very quickly becoming a fan. His line work embodies a classic, contemporary approach to comics, with action sequences as the highlights of this first issue set in the world of Blüdwire. There’s nothing more satisfying than shutting up crass losers, and Blanco wastes no time providing a sense of catharsis for the reader in this regard. Every scene from beginning to end bursts with bullets and adrenaline, aided only by the beautiful coloring from Brittany Peer.

I’m in love with the instant display of trust and affection between Ace and Zora, and I can already feel the intensity within their relationship. They both fall into their respective personalities (Ace being much harder-headed and more aggressive, and Zora being more docile and curious), and I’m curious to see their passion blossom as the series progresses against the impossible odds of a world set on their enslavement.

Blüdwire #1 is a bold addition to the Mad Cave lineup, brimming with action, liberation, and a whole lot of guns.
