‘Geek-Girl #12:’ Comic Book Review

With Ruby’s vitality sapped after her loss to Identity Thief, it’s bad news when the former members of Pig Head’s gang and other local miscreants meet up and try to form an alliance to locate the porcine troublemaker. Meanwhile, Summer continues to pursue her own chance at powers, blindly ignoring that the glasses nearly cost Ruby her life. How much messier can things get for one former co-ed it girl?

Geek-Girl #12 amps up the conflict with the meeting of two groups of Geek-Girl anti-fans who would have no problem attacking her while she’s down. Readers know where Pig Head is hidden, but the battle to free him will not be pretty. Plus, his captors aren’t really superhero supporters. Simultaneously, Summer throws herself into her quest to regain a sense of purpose after returning the glasses to Ruby without thinking about the danger in fighting crime. She avoids questioning the sincerity of her potential teammates, because she desperately wants to relate to Geek-Girl and Ruby the same way she did before fame took her friend.

Wheels are in motion to move the main characters towards an epic showdown with the various powered individuals in Acorn Ridge (and the surrounding areas). Can the Maine small town handle another extranormal battle? Only upcoming issue will tell!

Geek-Girl #12 released on February 21 and will be available for purchase at Geek Girl Comics. A Kickstarter for additional issues will go live on February 28.
