Here at Fanbase Press, we strive to provide an outlet for up-and-coming creators to promote and showcase their incredible works. With thousands of creators utilizing crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo to make those works a reality, we will highlight these talented creators and their noteworthy campaigns through #CrowfundingFridays! We hope that you will join us in giving these projects a moment of your time (and possibly your support).

Project #1: Filipino Folklore and Mythology Coloring Book

What it’s about: Art created by our community with themes that represent our culture. Simplified in a coloring book. That is the idea FilAm CreatorCon had to help support, connect, and showcase FilAm artists in a fun way.

The Filipino Folklore and Mythology Coloring book is the first of many volumes they will create with art submitted by local FilAm artists.

With volume 1, you will learn a little about the Folklore and mythology from the Philippines in a fun way. Why in a coloring book form? Ever saw an art piece from one of your favorite artist, but wondered how it would look if the colors were different? Now this is your chance.  Color to your heart’s desire with your own color interpretation and maybe FEEL like an artist yourself. Who know, maybe it will inspire to start drawing one of your own.

By supporting the coloring book series, you’ll allow artists’ voices and art be seen and heard.

Bullet Adventures V2

Project #2: Bullet Adventures: Volume 2

What it’s about
: Classic superhero action without decades of continuity. Family dynamics! Villains!

Throughout the second arc, readers have seen a bit of travel for the characters, with a mountain getaway, a class trip to an amusement park, time spent in China, and a stop along the West coast (where the arc’s sub-plot culminates in a battle between the brand new hero Numb and the villains Cupid, Diamond Dust, and Influencer). What better place to tack on Lainie’s visit to the corn-themed food festival from The Relentless Adventure crossover than the action-packed trade paperback, Field Tripping.

Blood of the Forsaken

Project #3: Blood of the Forsaken

What it’s about
: Blood of the Forsaken follows twins Emma and Jimmy Hogan on the night vampires descend upon their ordinary Midwestern family home.

Jimmy is miles from home when he feels something is terribly wrong.

His twin sister Emma is already living it.

SHE HAS TO GET OUT.
HE HAS TO GET HOME.

At its heart, it’s a character-driven supernatural thriller about family, survival, and what happens when the place where you’re supposed to be safest becomes the place you desperately need to escape.

SHRUB KS Header CF

Project #3: Shrub: The Collected Edition

What it’s about
: GLAAD Media Award-winning and Eisner and Harvey Awards-nominated publisher and media outlet Fanbase Press is proud to announce Shrub, an 8-issue Graphic Medicine series which will be crowdfunded by the publisher on Kickstarter.

In this middle grade adventure, readers will join Shrub who is, well… a shrub… for a cross-country trip to Hollywood! Join Shrub and a grieving brother and sister as they hit the open road in search of connection. On their journey, pit stops, wacky plant enthusiasts, uprooting, and re-routing abound.

The series was created and written by Emmy Award nominee Shane Portman (Tumble Leaf, Shape Island), illustrated by Andy Alves (Cosmic Cadets), colored by Sophia Du and Celia FitzGerald, lettered by Oceano Ransford (Eisner Award-nominated Rikki), and with consultation from comics librarian Moni Barrette.

Shrub explores the various ways that we allow grief to take root, inspired by writer Shane Portman’s experience with the loss of his father. The series features “Letting Grief Take Root” essays written by individuals with a personal and/or professional connection to grief who relate Shrub’s story to their own lived experience.
