Here at Fanbase Press, we strive to provide an outlet for up-and-coming creators to promote and showcase their incredible works. With thousands of creators utilizing crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo to make those works a reality, we will highlight these talented creators and their noteworthy campaigns through #CrowfundingFridays! Project #1: Skrawl Comix Magazine #3
What it’s about: Those pugnacious, poodle-loving punks are back! The SkrawlLordz return with SKRAWL 3! The third issue of their Comix Magazine that celebrates the best of the UK’s independent comic scene and beyond!
SKRAWL aims is to allow cartoonists an opportunity to experiment with the medium of comics in a short form format, while keeping the door to longer form storytelling open.
SKRAWL 3 will feature sequential strips from all The SKRAWLLORDZ , who are Mark Hughes, Russell Mark Olson, Nick Prolix, Martin Simpson, Pete Taylor, and Gustaffo Vargas, and additional material from their guests. Lined up for SKRAWL #3 is Olivia Sullivan (Oracles), Dominica Claribelle (At Our Peril), Artyom Trakhanov (Sharp Eyes, First Knife), Tom Humberstone (Suzanne: The Jazz Age Goddess of Tennis), Matthew Hardy (The War of the Worlds: Thunder Child), Zé Burnay (Andromeda), Phil Breach and Shane Oakley (Albion).

Project #2: Lionborne #1-2
What it’s about: Jayden Lee is a seventeen-year-old trying to find a way to pass his exams, but he is also something much greater; he is the champion of Simha, the Lion Spirit Beast. Known as Lionborne, Jayden is the spiritual protector of Singapore and the only one who can stop William Ashford, the champion of Olephis, the Spirit Devourer. Project #3: Samara and the Rangers of Centaria: The Complete Graphic Novel
What it’s about: It’s the year 2708 and humanity has rebuilt itself from the ruins of a machine apocalypse, no technology, no machines, just grit and simple living. Project #4: Shrub: The Collected Edition
What it’s about: GLAAD Media Award-winning and Eisner and Harvey Awards-nominated publisher and media outlet Fanbase Press is proud to announce Shrub, an 8-issue Graphic Medicine series which will be crowdfunded by the publisher on Kickstarter.
In this middle grade adventure, readers will join Shrub who is, well… a shrub… for a cross-country trip to Hollywood! Join Shrub and a grieving brother and sister as they hit the open road in search of connection. On their journey, pit stops, wacky plant enthusiasts, uprooting, and re-routing abound.
The series was created and written by Emmy Award nominee Shane Portman (Tumble Leaf, Shape Island), illustrated by Andy Alves (Cosmic Cadets), colored by Sophia Du and Celia FitzGerald, lettered by Oceano Ransford (Eisner Award-nominated Rikki), and with consultation from comics librarian Moni Barrette.
Shrub explores the various ways that we allow grief to take root, inspired by writer Shane Portman’s experience with the loss of his father. The series features “Letting Grief Take Root” essays written by individuals with a personal and/or professional connection to grief who relate Shrub’s story to their own lived experience.
