Project #1: This Comic Kills Fascists Dos

What it’s about: In the summer of 2023, Apollo City Comics launched as a publishing imprint and created a line of emotionally charged punk rock, sci-fi, stoner, political, comic book anthologies and original series!

Today…
We the People…
WE the PEOPLE

…in order to reform this union, have crafted essays, pinups, comix, and resources rejecting fascism, sexism, xenophobia, racism, and hate.

With this collection we will express our dissatisfaction, frustration, and our fears of what this democratic republic has been reduced to. In effect, to use art and words to kill the very idea of fascism.  Picking up where we left off, This Comic Kills Fascists Dos continues its rallying cry for equality and justice.

Alpha Cat 2

Project #2: Alpha Cat #2

What it’s about
: Alpha Cat is a comic book series from award-winning author/comedian/podcaster Chris Mancini and artist Fernando Pinto, the same twisted team that brought you genre-bending comic hits like Long Ago and Far Away and Rise of the Kung Fu Dragon Master.

Alpha Cat is a high-energy, all-ages sci-fi romp with Pixar heart and Looney Tunes chaos. It’s Star Trek with animals by way of Ratchet & Clank… a kinetic, character-driven adventure about a former soldier learning to let go of the past and embrace the thrill of exploration again.

Traveling Skulls

Project #3: Traveling Skulls: Original Art and Drawings on Postcards

What it’s about
: Traveling Skulls is a unique, limited art project and illustration series from artist Nathaniel Osollo. This is art that actually moves and travels. It goes from point A to point B and it will do that with your help.

When you support this campaign, Osollo will create original art of a skull on a postcard and mail that out to you. He’ll be drawing or painting on the blank side (where a personal message normally goes). Super simple. Artist’s choice on the skull design. No printing. No shipping costs. Just high-quality, original art that you buy, Osollo puts it on a postcard and mails out to you. But the art isn’t finished then.

These drawings are made with the intention of being handled and carried. They’re going on a journey. They’re going to be drawn, painted, and then dropped in a mailbox.

At that point a mail carrier picks them up and they’ll begin the next part of their voyage. Going through the system, getting stamped, fingerprints, scuffed, on their way to you. And when they get there? THAT’S when the artwork is finished.

SHRUB KS Header CF

Project #5: Shrub: The Collected Edition

What it’s about
: GLAAD Media Award-winning and Eisner and Harvey Awards-nominated publisher and media outlet Fanbase Press is proud to announce Shrub, an 8-issue Graphic Medicine series which will be crowdfunded by the publisher on Kickstarter.

In this middle grade adventure, readers will join Shrub who is, well… a shrub… for a cross-country trip to Hollywood! Join Shrub and a grieving brother and sister as they hit the open road in search of connection. On their journey, pit stops, wacky plant enthusiasts, uprooting, and re-routing abound.

The series was created and written by Emmy Award nominee Shane Portman (Tumble Leaf, Shape Island), illustrated by Andy Alves (Cosmic Cadets), colored by Sophia Du and Celia FitzGerald, lettered by Oceano Ransford (Eisner Award-nominated Rikki), and with consultation from comics librarian Moni Barrette.

Shrub explores the various ways that we allow grief to take root, inspired by writer Shane Portman’s experience with the loss of his father. The series features “Letting Grief Take Root” essays written by individuals with a personal and/or professional connection to grief who relate Shrub’s story to their own lived experience.
