The Road to Oz 3

Project #2: The Road to Oz: Chapter 3

What it’s about
: The storm is coming. And it remembers Dorothy. One moment, Scarecrow stood watch over the Emerald City — guardian, protector, keeper of Oz’s wisdom. The next? Torn from everything he knew and hurled across worlds. Now he’s here. Hidden in plain sight among broken fence posts in a field that no longer grows. The rains are gone. The soil is dust. And the sky? The sky has turned against them.

Welcome to 1930s Kansas. Welcome to the Dust Bowl. Black clouds roll across the plains like dark oceans — swallowing everything in their path. But Dorothy knows something the others don’t. These storms aren’t natural. They move like they’re hunting. Shapes shift inside the churning black walls. The dust isn’t just choking the land — It’s watching them. And buried within those towering clouds? An enemy thought to be gone forever.

Scarecrow didn’t survive Oz to lose Dorothy here. Not to the dying land. Not to the gathering darkness. Not to what’s coming on the horizon. Because that next black cloud isn’t a storm. It’s war.

The Road to Oz: Chapter Three continues the epic untold story of how saving Oz failed! A reimagining of a classic tale through a fresh, cinematic lens. We’re building this world one chapter at a time, and your support makes all the difference.

Seekers of Science 600

Project #4: Seekers of Science: Volumes 1 and 2

What it’s about
: Seekers of Science is a STEM-based comic created by Tamara Robertson, Dr. Tracy Fanara, and Todd Black.

The trio came together to try and showcase the wonders of science in its many forms, and prove that there absolutely is a field of science for you to enjoy and be a part of, even if you don’t think of the field as being “science-focused.”

Over the last several years, the trio has worked on and off to create one comic after another, touching on topics like oil spill cleanups, how insects can actually kill forests through natural processes (and how to stop them), VR, how aquaponics can help third-world countries, and more!

What it’s about
: GLAAD Media Award-winning and Eisner and Harvey Awards-nominated publisher and media outlet Fanbase Press is proud to announce Shrub, an 8-issue Graphic Medicine series which will be crowdfunded by the publisher on Kickstarter.

In this middle grade adventure, readers will join Shrub who is, well… a shrub… for a cross-country trip to Hollywood! Join Shrub and a grieving brother and sister as they hit the open road in search of connection. On their journey, pit stops, wacky plant enthusiasts, uprooting, and re-routing abound.

Shrub explores the various ways that we allow grief to take root, inspired by writer Shane Portman’s experience with the loss of his father.
