Join Fanbase Press and Talented Indie Creators for Long Beach Comic Con 2023

The Fanbase Press staff is excited to exhibit at Long Beach Comic Expo 2023, alongside a number of other talented independent creators! Taking place on Saturday, September 2, and Sunday, September 3, 2023, at the Long Beach Convention Center, the annual event is a celebration of comic books and pop culture that showcases the exceptional works of talented writers, artists, illustrators, and creators of all pop culture genres. Throughout the weekend, we will be meeting readers at the Fanbase Press booth (#512) with copies of the 2023 Eisner and Harvey Award-nominated Ripple Effects, the 2018 Eisner Award-nominated Quince, the 2022 International Latino Book Award-winning Nuclear Power trade paperback, the recently released LGBTQIA+ coming-of-age graphic novel Four-Color Heroes, and more!

Fanbase Press will be hosting the following panel on Saturday, September 2, at 11:00 a.m.:

What Does Healthy Queer Representation in Comics Look Like? – Led by Barbra Dillon (Editor-in-Chief, Fanbase Press), this panel will provide a thoughtful conversation that goes far beyond the fact that representation is necessary. Featuring David M. Booher (writer, Killer Queens), Richard Fairgray (writer/artist, Four-Color Heroes), William O. Tyler (editor, We Belong), and Viktor Kerney (editor, We Belong), the conversation will include how each panelist defines “healthy” queer representation, whether it’s necessary to only tackle the positive stories and aspects of life, and much more.

You will not want to miss the other indie creators, writers, artists, and publishers who will be exhibiting their work at the convention:

  • Comic book writer/artist Nathaniel Osollo will be an official LBCC guest this year, with a super-limited run of the new Ninja Turtle x Dark Mouse prints, as well as his latest Dark Mouse book.
  • Creator/artist/writer Nick Marino will be in Artist Alley (A23) with copies of his latest comic book work.
  • Comic book writer/artist Mike Ahn (Out of Order) and Joe Burns (Danica Shade) will be in Artist Alley (Table TBD).
  • Comic book writer D.J. Kirkbride will be in Artist Alley (C2) with copies of his Dark Horse titles, including Errand Boys, The Once and Future Queen, and Never Ending.
  • Comic book writer David Avallone (Elvira in Monsterland, Elvira of Horrorland) will be in Artist Alley (A13) with copies of his titles from Dynamite.
