CrowdfundingFridays: ‘Jacques and the Great Art Theft,’ ‘One More Year,’ ‘Gourmand Go,’ and ‘Don’t Push the Red Button’

Here at Fanbase Press, we strive to provide an outlet for up-and-coming creators to promote and showcase their incredible works. With thousands of creators utilizing crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo to make those works a reality, we will highlight these talented creators and their noteworthy campaigns through #CrowfundingFridays! We hope that you will join us in giving these projects a moment of your time (and possibly your support).

Project #1: Jacques and the Great Art Theft

What it’s about: Jacques and the Great Art Theft is an all-ages book that follows our titular character Jacques as he undertakes his greatest job yet: to break into the city’s gallery and liberate its finest work.

Follow our nocturnal thief as he makes his way across rooftops, traverses great heights, and sneaks his way past guards to get at the treasures within.

The story is almost entirely without dialogue, so it can be enjoyed by anyone regardless of language!

Written and drawn by Chris Baldie and coloured by Adrian Bloch.

Project #2: One More Year

What it’s about
One More Year is a 240-page original graphic novel about Ultimate frisbee! We’ve turned Contested Strip (our beloved webcomic about Ultimate (that cool, niche sport you’ve kinda-sorta heard of) into a full-color, original story about loss, friendship, fun, teamwork, and the art of living in the moment.

CLINT HOLDER IS QUITTING ULTIMATE FRISBEE. After dedicating years of his life to the sport he loves, he has STILL never won a single tournament. But when his hacker friends Modulus and Nadeem come up with a madcap plan to “hack” ultimate and win Mixed Beach Nationals, Clint is convinced to join them for one more shot at ULTIMATE glory!

Project #3: Gourmand Go

What it’s about
: The Gourmand Go is a tramp freighter that travels the galaxy on a mission to seek out new life–and eat it. But when times are lean, the officers are not above eating more… human… cuisine.

From shopping mall food courts to the heart of a gas giant, from reality cooking shows to the table of a planetary warlord, the crew of the Gourmand Go will face any challenge with a thirst for adventure and a taste for the finer things.

Gourmand Go is a 64-page, full-colour graphic novella (containing 56 story pages) that will appeal to fans of Galaxy Quest, Army of Darkness, and Judge Dredd. Is it a satire about consumer culture and colonialism? Is it a parody of space operas and reality cooking shows? U DECIDE!

Project #4: Don’t Push the Red Button

What it’s about
: Don’t Push the Red Button is a 100+ page anthology of stories inspired by a social dilemma: If you could press a button and receive lots of money, but one stranger would die, would you press the button? What if that person wasn’t a stranger at all?
