‘Geek-Girl Series 2, #11:’ Comic Book Review

The Identity Thief wants to be Geek-Girl and seems willing to try anything to land a blow on our titular heroine. Pit Bull intervenes temporarily, but Ruby spirals down memory lane while trying to stop the new super villain from morphing into everyone in town! Meanwhile, Summer receives an opportunity to step into the powered arena, but is it a real lead or a trap to get to her BFF?

Geek-Girl #11 is set up to be a point for new readers to access the series, so the focus is Ruby’s flashbacks which review the plot of all the previous issues. I had forgotten how shallow and unlikable Ruby came across in her earliest appearances and how Summer helped to guide her into using the glasses for good rather than just a game. Ruby still lacks impulse control when she senses a need to intervene, though, which leads to the cliffhanger in the final panels!

There’s just enough new material in the latest issue of Geek-Girl to interest long-time fans, and new readers can get caught up on earlier adventures without needing the entire backlist. (I highly recommend them if you can, though!) If you want a fun adventure highlighting the trials of small-time supes, pick this up! The creators know how to make it a fun time!
