Fanbase Press Interviews Sean Fitzgerald, Director of Theatre Unleashed’s ‘Nevermore’

The following is an interview with Sean Fitzgerald, director of Theatre Unleashed‘s currently running production of Nevermore.  In this interview, Fanbase Press Editor-in-Chief Barbra Dillon chats with Fitzgerald about the premise of the play, the creative process of the cast and crew, how interested readers may purchase tickets, and more!

Barbra Dillon, Fanbase Press Editor-in-Chief: With Halloween fast approaching, Theatre Unleashed is getting into the chilling holiday spirit with its latest production, Nevermore.  What can you tell us about the premise of the show?

Sean Fitzgerald: It is a fictional story of Edgar Allan Poe returning to his childhood friends home after receiving a cry for help. As the story progresses, we start to learn that this home harbors possible supernatural secrets that all involved share a connection with.

BD: As the director, what piqued your interest in the show and encouraged you to get involved?

SF: I loved the theme of secrets. Each character has something that they are trying to hide, as well as the need to discover what each other character is concealing.

BD: This is the first time that the show will be produced for a full theatrical run in Los Angeles.  Why do you feel that Theatre Unleashed is the perfect home for the production?

SF: Theatre Unleashed houses a talented bunch of hard-working people. A show such as this left open many avenues of execution, and I loved my team experimenting with me to find our most effective way of telling this story.

BD: What can you share with us about the talented cast and crew behind Nevermore, and how would you describe your collective creative process in preparing for the production?

SF: This was one of the most supporting casts that I have worked with in a while. Everyone involved was able to contribute to the show in ways that exceeded their responsibilities as an actor. Whether it was David Caprita with his expertise in sound from working in radio, Courtney Bell (not to mention Mark Bell) sewing costumes, Michael Lutheran with his marketing ideas, or a number of other essential bits of help I received from my cast, it was awesome to cooperate with a team of passionate artists.

BD: What do you hope that audiences will take away from the show?

SF: A good time! This is not a show that is trying to educate you on painful current events. We are not striving to enlighten you on the human condition with this show. When one sees this show, I want them to grab a drink, eat some popcorn, and get into the Halloween spirit. Just have fun with this one!

BD: Are there any other upcoming shows or projects that you would care to share with our readers?

SF: Theatre Unleashed will be putting up It’s a Wonderful Life: A Radio Play as well as Die Hard: The Musical for the holidays.

BD: Lastly, what would you like to tell fans who want to learn more about Nevermore and purchase tickets?
