Fanbase Press Interviews Fresh Monkey Fiction’s Bill Murphy on the Launch of the 40th Anniversary ‘Eagle Force’ Action Figures

The following is an interview with Fresh Monkey Fiction founder Bill Murphy regarding the launch of their exclusive line of Eagle Force 40th Anniversary Action Figures, available exclusively with BigBadToyStore. In this interview, Fanbase Press Editor-in-Chief Barbra Dillon chats with Murphy about revisiting the characters 40 years later, the process of indie toy creation, what fans can anticipate from the anniversary celebration, and more!

Barbra Dillon, Fanbase Press Editor-in-Chief: Congratulations on launch of Fresh Monkey Fiction’s new line of 40th Anniversary Eagle Force action figures. What has been your experience in revisiting this world of characters 40 years later?

Bill Murphy: Thank you! We are super excited to launch the 40th Anniversary line. We relaunched the Eagle Force line in 2016 with our Eagle Force Returns line. It’s been great to connect with the fans of the original 1980s line and new fans who are learning about Eagle Force for the first time. We’ve been able to bring these characters to life in a way that the vintage line was not able to do, as the vintage line didn’t make it past its initial wave. We have over 4 waves of figures currently being offered via our partner Zica Toys, with more on the way from BigBadToyStore.

BD: What can you share with us about the creative process behind designing and producing these anniversary edition action figures, what kinds of new features can fans anticipate?

BM: We looked to expand our Eagle Force Returns offering but also wanted to pay tribute to the original line of characters in their classic gold outfits. The 40th Anniversary allowed us to do just that. Creatively speaking, designing indie toys is more of a science than an art, as we have to figure out ways to creatively use our molds across many of our figures. We are not Hasbro or Mattel where we can create full new figures for every character; we need to get creative with parts reuse across our figures. That said, that can be really fun as sometimes working within some guard rails can give you a perspective you wouldn’t have otherwise thought about. What we’re really excited about is not only does the 40th Anniversary line allow us to revisit the classic Eagle Force characters in their gold outfits, but we can expand into our other Eagle Force subteams, like Eagle Force Returns, Eagle Force Mega, Monster Force and Ninja Force.

BD: In addition to the toy launch itself, there will be lots of other exciting anniversary content being released. What can fans anticipate in terms of bonus content?

BM: We’re planning to show lots of behind-the-scenes imagery, as well as story building concepts for many of our characters. We’ll also be launching an Eagle Force Declassified website so folks can learn more about their favorite Eagle Force characters.

BD: While this toy line has only just begun its launch, do you have plans for future toy lines that you hope to launch for Eagle Force or other properties?

BM: Our main focus is to continue with expanding the Eagle Force line and include figures from other factions like Monster Force, Adventure Force, Freedom Force, Space Force and Ninja Force over the next year.

BD: Lastly, what is the best way to learn more about Fresh Monkey Fiction and the BigBagToyStore?

BM: The best way to reach us and follow all things Eagle Force via our social media channels, where we post weekly updates and showcase new designs and characters. For updates follow the Eagle Force Toys Twitter account or follow Fresh Monkey Fiction on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter or visit the website.

Pre-orders for future waves are available on BigBadToyStore.
