GCB MTBy Michael Fitzgerald Troy

Is GCB (Good Christian Belles) ABC’s Desperate replacement or Pan Am‘s grounded flight schedule filler? Neither. The new ABC dramedy actually stands quite well on its own.

Based on the book Good Christian Bitches by Kim Gatlin, this mid-season replacement may be a keeper. It certainly has the mixed appeal of watching the over privileged be awful to one another and plastic beauty for sure. I was a little turned off by the Southern angle at first, as I usually don’t go down Jethro Lane, but it’s hard to resist an ad campaign with a cute blonde in blue and a pink background. I associate crosses more with Madonna than Jesus, so I wasn’t immediately turned off by the religious angles as I anticipated a high dosage of hypocrisy, and who in the hell doesn’t love that?

Kristen Cheneworth is a delight as usual (Love the pink short suit!) and Designing Women queens will be pleased with Annie Potts as a drunken matriarch.

A little Desperate, a little Real, Dallas-meets-Mean Girls shows potential, and I’m willing to see where it’s headed. Sunday night belongs to chicks and gay guys. Let’s keep it that way, shall we?

The actress formerly known as fat and Dancing With The Stars success Kirstie Allie has been tweeting her skinny, little a$$ off in anticipation of GCB. I think Allie would be great in a recurring role, and the producers would be smart to cast her. She’s sassy, looks great, and one need look no further than her hilarious turn in one of my favorite movies, Drop Dead Gorgeous, to see what I mean. (“The swan ate my baby!”)

Michael has performed stand-up comedy at all of the major comedy clubs in Los Angeles and is making his triumphant return to the main stage of The Comedy Store in September. Michael offers an off-beat sense of humor as the star of such youtube cult classics As The Gays on Film (, A Minute With Margot, a loving tribute to Superman legend Margot Kidder (, and currently hosts a vlog style series Lethally Blonde over at Sitting alongside industry heavyweight Phil Jimenez at the “Divas and Lassoes” panel for the 2010 San Diego comic-con, Michael maintains and cherishes his “underground” status. A staunch believer in Blonde Ambition, Michael hopes his new comic about shallow blonde super heroes in Los Angeles, The Blonde Squad, will set the world on fire (or at least brighten it a bit).
