Oh, The Horror! (American Horror Story, that is.)

“There isn’t a door in the world that beauty can’t open,” says the demented and mysterious Jessica Lange in one of my new favorite television series, American Horror Story on FX.

American Horror Story
is a new nighttime soap with some seriously twisted story lines. Taking place in Los Angeles, an unfaithful psychiatrist and his wife buy a new house in an attempt to salvage their failing marriage. (Um, good idea.)

Unbeknownst to them, the house is haunted and is even known as murder house on a murder site tour. Whoopsie! Things really start to get weird when the devil knocks up the shrink’s wife, and we take a trip to Rosemary’s Gymboree.

Throw in graphic violence, language, and a gratuitous butt shot from Dylan McDermott (more, please!), and I am so there.

As hard as it is easy to imagine that this comes from the creative mind behind Glee, I thoroughly enjoy this show. With great cameos from Zachary Quinto and Eric Stonestreet, you have prime choice. Boasting a name such as American Horror Story, it damn well better be scary. And, the good news? It is. Blurring the lines of reality between the living and the dead, it definitely delivers on nail-biting intrigue. A little bit Sixth Sense, a little bit Rosemary’s Baby, and a dash of Twin Peaks thrown in for good measure, and count me in!

Did I mention I love Jessica Lange’s character?

Catch American Horror Story Wednesdays on FX.

Michael Troy is a deeply superficial person.
