Welcome to Week 2 of Project Wonder Woman. The fantasy Project Runway/Wonder Woman mash-up. I am obsessed with Wonder Woman, and I can’t miss an episode of Heidi Kluhm’s hit Lifetime series, Project Runway.

Each week, would-be fashion designers compete to come up with the best design for specified challenges. One week you’re in, the next week you’re out. The loser each week has their dreams squashed and are sent home in public humiliation as in any reality TV competition worth its salt. The remaining competitors stay another week in an effort to reach the ultimate end goal of showing in New York’s annual famed Fashion Week and winning half a million bucks.

It’s my dream to draw Wonder Woman, and I’ll take any chance I can get.  It’s another dream, albeit a lesser one, to be a fashion designer, and I like to draw girly girls in my own dreamed-up visions. I may never get to draw Wonder Woman in an official capacity or be the next Zac Posen, but I would love to be a guest judge for sure. (Heidi, can you hear me?)

So, being the genius that I am and with fate (and Lifetime!) having just launched the new season of Project Runway, I decided to amalgamate my two passions and thus Project Wonder Woman was born.  Each week I will re-imagine Wonder Woman’s costume based on the challenge presented to the designers on the show.  Granted, I don’t have the arduous task of actually having to create the garment I conceive, which is a good thing, as I doubt I could sew my way out of a paper bag, let alone fold one into origami.

Any who . . . this week’s challenge was to create a beautiful outfit to complement some very expensive, high-end jewelry.  Apparently, a difficult task as many of the outfits fell short of the challenge. I couldn’t think of a more priceless or more dangerous jewel in the DCU than the black diamond that turns you into Eclipso.  So, with that as my inspiration, I created the gown to accompany said gem fashioned as a necklace. The Haus of Troy took the liberty of giving her matching earrings to go along with the necklace. Black, evil, omnipotent, evil-inducing diamonds are a girl’s best friend, after all.   Aside from the unfortunate, pale blue, half circle facial tattoo side effect of the diamond and the evil lust for world domination, I think it turned out pretty well.  I also have the advantage of not having to face the acid-tongued critiques of the judging panel, but feel free to leave your critiques in the comments section. Love it or loathe it, I can take it. (Unless you’re Michael Kors!  That girl is mean!  Hilarious and dead on, but harsh nonetheless.). I hope you enjoy my fashion, and I can’t wait to see what Heidi has cooked up for us next week!

Catch Project Runway on Thursdays on The Lifetime television network.

ABOUT MICHAEL FITZGERALD TROY:

Michael Troy is a deeply superficial person. Born in the midwest in the ’70s, Michael came to Los Angeles to pursue his bi-polar career path as an actor and artist. 2005 saw the release of Michael’s first published book, Homo-Hero’s Big Book of Fun and Adventure (www.greencandypress.com). Michael has contributed to the Lady Gaga comic book from Bluewater Productions and has his hand in various other upcoming projects. Michael has performed stand-up comedy at all of the major comedy clubs in Los Angeles and is making his triumphant return to the main stage of The Comedy Store in September. Michael offers an off-beat sense of humor as the star of such youtube cult classics As The Gays on Film (www.youtube.com/fullfrontaltv), A Minute With Margot, a loving tribute to Superman legend Margot Kidder (http://www.youtube.com/user/rktcommander), and currently hosts a vlog style series Lethally Blonde over at www.monsterburg.com. Sitting alongside industry heavyweight Phil Jimenez at the “Divas and Lassoes” panel for the 2010 San Diego comic-con, Michael maintains and cherishes his “underground” status. A staunch believer in Blonde Ambition, Michael hopes his new comic about shallow blonde super heroes in Los Angeles, The Blonde Squad, will set the world on fire (or at least brighten it a bit). Check out Michael Troy and Lethally Blonde updates here!!!
