With thousands of creators utilizing crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo to make those works a reality, we will highlight these talented creators and their noteworthy campaigns through #CrowfundingFridays! Project #1: Morgana Pendragon #1-4
What it’s about: Morgana Pendragon is a new comic book series by Madeleine Holly-Rosing, the writer/creator of the popular and long-running steampunk supernatural series, Boston Metaphysical Society.
If you like character-driven stories with a touch of history, magic, and swords, then this is for you!
The third and fourth issues continue the story of Morgana Pendragon who, having lost her magic when she fled England twenty years ago, leads a mercenary team wherever the best paycheck is. All that changes when she receives a message to return—her brother, King Arthur, is dying. The meeting with Arthur is tense, but nothing can really prepare her for the reunion with her openly hostile son, Mordred.

Project #2: Shrub: The Collected Edition – NOW LIVE!
What it’s about: GLAAD Media Award-winning and Eisner and Harvey Awards-nominated publisher and media outlet Fanbase Press is proud to announce Shrub, an 8-issue middle grade Graphic Medicine series which will be crowdfunded by the publisher on Kickstarter.
Readers will join Shrub who is, well… a shrub… for a cross-country adventure to Hollywood! Join Shrub and a grieving brother and sister as they hit the open road in search of connection. On their journey, pit stops, wacky plant enthusiasts, uprooting, and re-routing abound.
The series was created and written by Emmy Award nominee Shane Portman (Tumble Leaf, Shape Island), illustrated by Andy Alves (Cosmic Cadets), colored by Sophia Du and Celia FitzGerald, lettered by Oceano Ransford (Eisner Award-nominated Rikki), and with consultation from comics librarian Moni Barrette.
Shrub explores the various ways that we allow grief to take root, inspired by writer Shane Portman’s experience with the loss of his father. The series features “Letting Grief Take Root” essays written by individuals with a personal and/or professional connection to grief who relate Shrub’s story to their own lived experience.
Striving to destigmatize loss and promote understanding of the diverse ways that people of all ages grieve, Shrub: The Collected Edition will also feature:the collected trade paperback of the Shrub series, featuring contributions from leading comics and mental health voices, including a foreword by Eisner Award-winning writer David F. Walker (Big Jim and the White Boy, Bitter Root), an introduction by voice-over actor, writer, and producer Yuri Lowenthal (Peter Parker / Spider-Man – Marvel Rivals, Marvel’s Spider-Man), an afterword by Emmy and Eisner Awards-winning writer Amalia Levari (Over the Garden Wall), and a resource guide by Dr. David J. Schonfeld (Director, National Center for School Crisis and Bereavement at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles).

Project #3: Memoirs of the Morbid – Trade Paperback
What it’s about: Memoirs of the Morbid is a three-volume, black-and-white horror anthology that adds an extra dose of dark humor. The whole thing is an homage to horror comics of the ’40s and ’50s. This campaign collects all three volumes of Memoirs of the Morbid: Red, Blue, and Orange.

Project #4: Miss Mina and the Midnight Guardians: The Legend Continues
What it’s about: Miss Mina and the Midnight Guardians is a heart-pounding, death-defying action thrill ride that blends a pinch of manga, a dash of steampunk, and a touch of Hammer Films horror into an all-out action tale that leaves you breathlessly begging for more!

Project #5: Sherlock Holmes and the Empire Builders Calendar 2027
What it’s about: Welcome to the latest Tripwire Kickstarter campaign. This time around, they are trying something a little different: a calendar featuring the unique art created for the Sherlock Holmes and The Empire Builders graphic novel series. Art from the likes of industry legend Walter Simonson (Manhunter, Thor), Dan Panosian (Conan, Batman), Frazer Irving (Batman, 2000AD), Eisner Award-winning artist Laurence Campbell (The One Hand, The Sword Of Hypoborea), Batman: The Last Halloween artist Mark Chiarello and Shawn Martinbrough (Thief of Thieves).

What it’s about: Who are you going to be tomorrow?
