‘Danger Girl: The Chase #2’ – Advance Comic Book Review

Danger Girl: The Chase continues as the mysterious tattooed woman from the previous issue gets away with the even more mysterious briefcase, and Abbey Chase gives chase. Well, technically, all the Danger Girls are chasing after her, but that doesn’t have quite the same ring to it. At any rate, the chase is on, and there’s action aplenty!

Even though the briefcase got away, the girls are able to trace it, thanks to a tracking device put on it by Sonya Savage. Unfortunately, getting to it is made significantly more difficult by the sudden, violent storm which has sprung up—a storm which Abbey swears is emanating from the briefcase itself.

Nearly this entire issue is essentially one long car chase. In movies, I tend not to like car chases very much. But, as this is a comic, in true Danger Girl fashion, they’re able to make the chase so over the top that it can’t help but be gripping and fun. In this issue, the action is bigger, the stakes are higher, the plot is twisty-er . . . and we STILL don’t know what’s in that darn briefcase!

Also in this issue, we get to see more of Valerie, the Danger Girls’ resident tech guru. In Trinity, she was little more than a background character, who delivered a few minor bits of exposition. In this saga, she actually gets to join in the fun a bit. Hopefully, she’ll continue to do so in the ensuing issues.

So far, this is shaping up to be a pretty cool story arc. With Danger Girl, you know what you’re getting, and The Chase delivers it: action, intrigue, espionage, and general high-octane thrills. The comic is both well-written and well-drawn, and it makes you eager to see what happens next. What more could you ask for? Well, you could ask to know what’s in the briefcase . . . but it looks like we’ll have to wait at least one more issue to find out.
