‘TMNT Ongoing #47:’ Advance Comic Book Review

There’s the popular expression that says, “Time flies when you’re having fun.”  Well, for me, time flew by so fast that I just now realized I’ve been writing reviews for almost a year now, and this month I surpass my 10th review for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ongoing comic book series.  I couldn’t be prouder of Kevin Eastman, Bobby Curnow, and Tom Waltz’s storyline as they’ve taken us form battles between baddies, and then those where our heroes always seem to prevail.

More recently, however, our pizza-loving friends did not win without loss, as Donatello is still barely alive, yet very much alive in his new Metalhead body.  Last month, we discovered that even Shredder is still alive (although the Foot Clan appears to think otherwise) and has teamed up with Baxter Stockman to plan his revenge against the Turtles.  And, when we last left Casey Jones, his father and The Purple Dragons were about to give him the fight of his life!

This month, in TMNT Ongoing #47, Casey Jones may have to fight his father in the fight he’s always been prepared to have, but what he probably never expected was how his community would have his back and fight alongside him.  “Cause I finally figured out the family yer born with ain’t necessarily the one that turns out to be your real family.”

Meanwhile, Shredder makes an appearance in front of The Foot and lays out his plans with Baxter Stockman for his granddaughter, Karai, to know.  Unfortunately, our heroes don’t find out soon enough, and with hundreds of flyborgs attacking their home, it’s up them to protect one of their own . . .

As much as I love Eastman, Curnow, and Waltz as a team, I don’t think any of us will be happy fans if they kill off another major character!  But, with art by the fabulous Mateus Santolouco, at least we can expect a beautiful comic book each month.  At least that one thing remains constant with each issue.  Otherwise, I never know what to expect!

Until next month, my comic loving family!
