Now, that’s what I call a way to end a comic book series—with a bang! And, not in the “Seymour-blows-his-guts-all-over-the-place” kind of bang. I’m talking the kind where the good guys get what they deserve, and the baddies crumble to the ground. All after an epic battle, of course.

If we remember from last month, the Mutanimals all seemed to be out of control! Slash lost his temper during a fight that scared even his own friends. Null was willing to do anything (and kill anyone) to keep her company alive. And, Mutagen Man ended the issue by ripping out his guts, thus turning himself into a ticking time-mutant, if that makes any sense. But, then again, I’ve learned to accept anything as it appears in this dimension.

This month, Mutanimals #4 gives us the final battle between good and evil that we’ve all be waiting for. Lindsay gets to lie to her girlfriend in order to steal important information. Hob confronts Null, distracting her from his Mutanimal team who finally brings her company to justice. And, Seymour gets to be the hero he always wanted to be. In the end, all our heroes learn a valuable lesson about teamwork, and that it’s okay to rely on each other every once in a while. Otherwise, you end up like Null with nowhere else to go! Or, so we’re made to believe. After all, she did say that her company was multi-dimensional . . .

But, seriously, let’s raise the roof (or whatever’s left of it after this issue) for story writer Paul Allor. This entire four-part series has had me on the edge of my seat with each issue. And, after reading about the troublesome times our Turtles are going through (if you’re not reading the ongoing TMNT series, you had better start now!), Mutanimals has been a fun breath of fresh air! And, of course, artist Andy Kuhn added to that freshness. His artwork was always unique and vital to the telling of this uplifting story.

Now, I wonder where and when our Mutanimals will show up again in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles storyline.

There’s only one way to find out: Get reading, pizza lovers!
