Bart-80-CoverI have to tell you the truth. I’ve never read a Simpsons comic before until Bongo asked me to start reviewing them, but like many people my age, I grew up on the Simpsons TV show. I have to say, these Bongo comics really capture the essence of those Simpsons episodes I grew up on. Even better, they deliver the humor of the Simpsons in a great, all-ages comic that grownups who remember the Simpsons from their youth can now share with their kids.

Bart Simpson #80 delivers a main story and two back-up stories that would make any longtime Simpsons fan proud. They do a wonderful job of capturing the characters’ voices and the style of the show in comic form. What I really like, though, is that the humor feels timeless. These are stories that will be just as funny and relevant twenty years from now as they are today. So much modern humor relies on pop culture references that in two years we won’t even remember, and it is really nice that this comic has a timeless quality to its humor.

Whether you grew up on The Simpsons, are looking for a fun comic to share with your young ones, or just want a good laugh, Bart Simpson #80 is a great choice. Make sure you pick it up this Wednesday.
