Every story is a chance to take readers on a new adventure, to a world of exciting possibilities, pure serenity, or harrowing encounters. For writer/producer/actress Tara Platt, storytelling has become a way of life, allowing her to create new worlds, characters, and intentions that connect with audiences across all genres and mediums of delivery. In Zartana, her latest and most expansive story yet, Platt has created an interactive storybook adventure that will undoubtedly appeal to the explorer in all of us. Zartana is a beautifully illustrated book chronicling a year in the life of a traveling Romani girl of the same name. The story – told in the style of a found journal – is interactive, and the pages are filled with amazing art, much of which can be taken out and appreciated. Having already collaborated with extremely talented international artists and designers to bring the vision of Zartana to life, Platt recently launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds for the printing of the book, and she needs your help to make this project a reality!
Tara Platt’s passion for world-building with interesting characters, a high aesthetic, and excellence in play make Zartana the kind of adventure in which readers will want to fully immerse themselves. By following allowing with Zartana as she journeys into the European wilderness of the past, readers will be teased with curiosities and learn day-to-day skills like perfume-making or mapping the stars on adventures that will make you feel young at heart. In addition, the incredible illustrations by Peter Johnston, Francesca Baerald, Blake Bradley, Maisie Yang, Kristin Lyman, and Candace Platt will further bring Platt’s vivid world to life.
While all of the artists involved in the project have been paid, the printing costs for Zartana are sizable, which prompted Platt to turn towards Indiegogo for support. Any funds raised through the crowdfunding campaign will be put towards the printing of a limited edition, hand-finished, numbered, and signed edition of the book.
Be sure to visit Zartana’s Indiegogo page, and don’t forget to check out the backer rewards, which include copies of the book, tea time with Tara via Skype, original and signed artwork from the book, and more! The campaign will close on October 31, so be sure to donate soon!
