The Kickstarter Report: ‘Katrina Hates the Dead’ Graphic Novel

In July of 2013, Fanboy Comics brought you the news that indie creator Russell Nohelty (Ichabod Jones: Monster Hunter) would premiere a limited edition run of his graphic novel, Katrina Hates the Dead, at San Diego Comic-Con that summer.  The epic, post-apocalyptic humor comic, written by Nohelty and illustrated by Juan Frigeri (Star Wars: Darth Maul), was a big success at the convention, selling out of its limited print run.  Now, the creators are hoping to bring the story to a much larger audience with a vastly larger print run, and they need your help to raise the necessary funds in their Kickstarter campaign to make their dream a reality!

Katrina Hates the Dead is a tongue-in-cheek look at how crappy it would be to live in the Apocalypse.  In Katrina, the Apocalypse is already old news; it happened years ago. Everything has settled down, and the Hellspawn have taken up residence on Earth. They are next-door neighbors to the humans they slaughtered, and they take hard-working humans jobs.  The titular Katrina is a little sick of fighting monsters, waiting on monsters, and buying her groceries from monsters. She wants her old life back, so she sets out to do something about it. She sets out on a journey to Hell to kill the Devil and end the Apocalypse once and for all.

If successfully funded, the money raised would be devoted to the printing costs required for the project. In addition, the graphic novel will be a standalone story, and it is already complete and ready to be sent off to the printer.

If you’re curious about the merits of Katrina’s story, be sure to check out Fanboy Comics’ review of the graphic novel by our very own Comic Book Slayer.

Be sure to visit Katrina Hates the Dead‘s Kickstarter page, and don’t forget to check out the backer rewards, which include digital and printed copies of the graphic novel, a special edition hardcover of the book, sketch cards, Skype sessions with the creator, and more. The Kickstarter campaign will close on Thursday, October 8th, so be sure to donate soon!
