Last night at King King in Hollywood, CA, the Kickstarter-funded short film The Bigfoot Hunters held its premiere to a raucous crowd. The evening was a great success; well attended by a mix of cast, crew, friends, and Kickstarter backers and coupled with a red carpet entryway and the eclectic rock/country sounds of The LA Hootenanny, the energy of the premiere had the crowd amped even before the film began. As if icing on the cake, the film itself was the climax of the evening, receiving cheers and laughs from an enthusiastic audience.
Written and directed by Matt Hausmann, The Bigfoot Hunters is a half-hour comedy short that follows a self-help group of individuals with a myriad of Bigfoot encounters – both positive and negative. This band of misfits, ranging from a gun-toting British priest to a foul-mouthed truck driver and his beer-guzzling lady (who doubts the existence of Bigfoot), joins forces to defeat the Bigfoot attack that has overtaken the government and the entire country.
In the vein of horror comedies like Shaun of the Dead and Army of Darkness, The Bigfoot Hunters seeks to straddle the comedy and horror genres. Having surpassed its original Kickstarter goal for the short film of nearly $15,000, it was no surprise that the end of the film announced an extended, feature-film version of The Bigfoot Hunters that is already in the works.
More details regarding the official release of the short film, as well as the production timeline for the feature, will likely be available on the official Facebook page. Be sure to stay tuned for more information regarding The Bigfoot Hunters!
