The Kickstarter Report: ‘Boston Metaphysical Society #5’

Independent comic book creators are hard-working folks.  It takes a great deal of energy, determination, and fortitude to create a comic book on your own, which is why – here at Fanboy Comics – we love highlighting the work of these talented individuals!  In this installment of “The Kickstarter Report,” I want to call attention to the Kickstarter campaign for Boston Metaphysical Society #5, the fifth issue in a six-issue sci-fi, action/adventure, Steampunk mini-series. Series creator Madeleine Holly-Rosing is hoping to raise $7,500 to cover the art production and printing costs of Issue #5, and she needs your help to make her dream a reality.

The story of Boston Metaphysical Society is set in the year 1895. An evil from a parallel dimension escaped and now roams the city of Boston. The world has developed along the lines of Steampunk technology, with steam-driven, rudimentary computers and electronics, and dirigibles ruling the sky. With it comes social and political upheaval, as not everyone is comfortable with change. In fact, many people fear it. That fear, and the violence that followed, caused a psychic rift to puncture the veil of space and time allowing the entity known as “The Shifter” to escape. Feeding on the resentment and fear between the rich and poor, “The Shifter” triggers a rash of murders. When great minds like Alexander Graham Bell, Nikola Tesla, Thomas Edison, and Harry Houdini fail to stop “The Shifter,” only the Boston Metaphysical Society can come to the rescue against the malevolent force!

In addition to running the current Kickstarter campaign, Holly-Rosing is also eyeing the upcoming 2014 Geekie Awards, in which Boston Metaphysical Society was nominated for Best Comic Book / Graphic Novel.
