The Fanbase Press staff is excited to exhibit at Long Beach Comic Expo 2023, alongside a number of other talented independent creators! Taking place on Saturday, September 2, and Sunday, September 3, 2023, at the Long Beach Convention Center, the annual event is a celebration of comic books and pop culture that showcases the exceptional works of talented writers, artists, illustrators, and creators of all pop culture genres. Throughout the weekend, we will be meeting readers at the Fanbase Press booth (#512) with copies of the 2023 Eisner and Harvey Award-nominated Ripple Effects, the 2018 Eisner Award-nominated Quince, the 2022 International Latino Book Award-winning Nuclear Power trade paperback, the recently released LGBTQIA+ coming-of-age graphic novel Four-Color Heroes, and more!
PANEL PROGRAMMING
Fanbase Press will be hosting the following panel on Saturday, September 2, at 11:00 a.m.:
What Does Healthy Queer Representation in Comics Look Like? – Led by Barbra Dillon (Editor-in-Chief, Fanbase Press), this panel will provide a thoughtful conversation that goes far beyond the fact that representation is necessary. Featuring David M. Booher (writer, Killer Queens), Richard Fairgray (writer/artist, Four-Color Heroes), William O. Tyler (editor, We Belong), and Viktor Kerney (editor, We Belong), the conversation will include how each panelist defines “healthy” queer representation, whether it’s necessary to only tackle the positive stories and aspects of life, and much more.
