Dear Fanboy Comics Readers:
On behalf of Fanboy Comics, I am both saddened to announce the departure of longtime FBC Creative Director Sam Rhodes and excited to welcome a new Creative Director to the team. After months of negotiations, joining the staff will be director, writer, and producer George Lucas, who has long been eager to join the Fanboy Comics staff.
George Lucas will be serving as Creative Director of Fanboy Comics as of April 1, 2013. Unsure that Lucas was serious about his interest in joining the FBC staff, co-founders Barbra and Bryant Dillon were finally convinced of his devotion to “all things geek” when he sold Lucasfilm to Disney for $4.05 billion. Although Lucas had intended to use the profits from the Lucasfilm sale to create a new “buddy comedy” cartoon series featuring Boba Fett and Jar Jar Binks, Dillon and Dillon asked that the money be donated to charity in order to cement his new position at Fanboy Comics. According to George Lucas’ personal representative, he is excited to join the FBC team and looks forward to re-examining and relaunching the company’s graphic novels, Something Animal and Identity Thief.
Fanboy Comics is sorry to see the departure of co-founder and former Creative Director Sam Rhodes, as he definitely did some stuff during his time with the company.
Sincerely,
Barbra J. Dillon
