When Funko and Marvel partnered to create the Collector Corps merchandise boxes, I was intrigued and mildly excited.  I bought several at San Diego Comic-Con, because I knew the contents would be cool and that I’d want the cache of being one of those who had something “exclusive.”  But, I wasn’t bowled over. Then, Funko announced the Star Wars Smuggler’s Bounty Box, which excited me more.  My love of all things Star Wars is approaching 40 years, and with the new movie (and full slate of movies to come), my interest for merchandise is at an all-time high.  And again, the idea of having something exclusive was really exciting.

I receive both of those boxes and have really enjoyed opening them to reveal the treasure trove of cool stuff inside – the Hulk Buster Iron Man Funko Pop! being a huge favorite and the chrome Captain Phasma joining me at work to make sure I complete my “to do” list before leaving for the day.

But, my heart was still a little empty.  See, I was a DC fan growing up.  My comic book storage boxes are filled with wonderful – though worthless – DC books featuring Batman, Green Lantern, Flash, JLA, and all of the niche heroes of the ’80s and ’90s that only hardcore fans will know. (Booster Gold and Blue Beetle, anyone?) But, there was no collector’s box for me.

Until now . . .

Introducing the DC Legion of Collectors box, featuring the same jam-packed goodness of the Marvel and Star Wars boxes.  Each box contains – at the very least – a collectible patch, pin, t-shirt, and Funko Pop! figurine, as well as an exclusive comic book and another collectible of some kind.

I received mine yesterday, so let me share with you what I received.

This first box is themed for the upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice film, in theaters on Thursday, March 24.  So, everything will be relevant to that.  Upon opening the box, you find the commemorative patch featuring the famed interlocking W logo of Wonder Woman who will make her big-screen debut in the film.  The commemorative pin features Henry Cavill’s Superman.

Lifting the inside lid reveals the DC exclusive t-shirt, which features an old-school design based on Mexican Luchador posters, touting an epic battle between Batman and Superman.  The t-shirt, which is reminiscent of the Avengers vs. Ultron t-shirt from the Avengers box, is light blue with dark blue writing and is perfect to wear to early screenings of the movie.

Under the t-shirt is the box exclusive Pop! figure, an armor suited Batman in graphite metallic and gold.  The figurine is #88 in the Pop! numbering system.  Next to that is a film collectible Dorbz set that is also exclusive to the box.  This one features a green Superman and an aqua marine Aquaman.  The colors look awesome.

Finally, on the bottom of the box is a Legion of Collectors special edition of Batman Superman #5 with art and story by Pak, Booth, Rapmund, and Dalhouse.  A really cool add-on.

This is a solid debut box.  And, while it could have benefited from one or two more smaller things in it (like the Star Wars: Force Awakens lanyard from that debut box), it was absolutely worth it and really makes me excited for the next box…and for the announcement of the next theme.  There are no DC movies planned for release right away after BvS, so I would guess it will be themed to one of the 7 current DC Comics shows on TV: Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Lucifer, iZombie, Gotham, or even Preacher, which bows on AMC in May.

Can’t wait!
