Last month, I feel as if I was writing about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles all the time!  Between TMNT Ongoing, TMNT Universe, and TMNT Dimension X, I want to say I wrote about my favorite mutant superheroes (Are the any other mutant superheroes, though?) every week for more than the month of August.  But September has been quite extinct of New York’s only pizza-loving reptiles. 

Until now…

Last month, in TMNT #73, General Krang was on trial for genocide, and the Turtles traveled to Dimension X to help make sure Krang the Brain got put behind bars for good. But, not without help, of course.  Our heroes were sent to return to Krang’s trial with witness of his cruelty.  And despite the fact that Krang’s assassin, Hakk-R, was on their tail every step of the way—almost killing some of the witnesses—the Turtles managed to help each witness escape and face their fate and their fears. 

Which brings us to this month’s issue, TMNT #74, in which the Turtles meet the Triceratons: a triceratops race of special space fighters.  Meanwhile, Fugitoid acts as the Prosecutor against General Krang, but when Krang has a plan to discredit each witness against him, will a golden robot be enough to make the case against him?  And with Hakk-R still on the loose, will everyone make it out of this issue alive?

It’s nice to have the team back together again, that’s for sure!  Between writers Kevin Eastman, Bobby Curnow, and Tom Waltz, artist Corey Smith, and colors by Ronda Pattison, TMNT #74 simply feels like a good, old-fashioned Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book.  You can tell that this quintuplet works well together; the story flows as beautifully as the turn of each page.  Oh, how I missed them!

Now, I wonder if any of these real heroes behind the story will show up to New York City Comic Con next week…
