Identity Thief likes Ruby’s high-flying, hard-partying friends and isn’t sure they ever want to give up Geek-Girl/Ruby Kaye’s face and powers! Ruby’s heading their way to take her looks and life back by force, but Identity Thief has more surprises in store. Meanwhile, Summer discovers her contract with The Hive may require a lot more than she wants to pay back. Is it worth signing on the dotted line just to join Johnny Carlyle’s team with her BFF?

Because Geek-Girl has hit a major story arc, each new issue builds on the previous ones, and Geek-Girl #14 is no different. Readers are learning more about the League of Larcenists’ reprogramming, Summer’s decision with The Hive, and Ruby’s determination to go back to physically being a college co-ed, not a withered husk of a human. The final panels present a cliffhanger with the much-awaited Geek-Girl vs. Identify Thief standoff, but I’m sure there are more surprises in store in the upcoming issue!

Ruby’s quest to return to herself is the focal point, and I loved it. Identity Thief’s interactions with Karin provide insight into how much the super heroine has changed since winning the glasses, even if Ruby’s desire to get her looks back seemed a little shallow at the start. Summer’s and the League of Larcenist’s stories move forward enough to hint at upcoming trials. I’m particularly interested in the hidden costs of the contract to use The Hive’s resources. Could they be up to no good?

The final pages bring Ruby into direct contact with her faux self, but Identity Thief reveals a secret skill: They don’t necessarily lose the abilities of previous identities when they change faces. Ruby’s powers hinge entirely upon her glasses, so can she hold her own against an opponent that may have the abilities of more than one supe?!?
