The following is an interview with world-renowned artist Vinne regarding the recent Kickstarter campaign launch for My Way, a hardcover collection of his illustrations, concept designs, and more between 2018-2024, in collaboration with Clover Press.  In this interview, Fanbase Press Editor-in-Chief Barbra Dillon chats with Vinne about his experience in revisiting his body of work in anticipation of the collection, the incredible backer rewards available to supporters of the campaign, and more!

Barbra Dillon, Fanbase Press Editor-in-Chief: You recently launched a Kickstarter campaign in conjunction with Clover Press for My Way.  As you look ahead to the combined collection, what has been your experience in revisiting your body of work?

Vinne: It has been interesting to see the way things changed. My early works were inspired by something completely different from what you see now. The technique is better now, but still not good enough. I feel like this is the perfect time to make a book about it, and remember me so I still get to work even more on projects.

BD: Your work has spanned various entertainment mediums, from album covers and anime to clothing design. Has there been a particular medium that has attracted you or connected with you more viscerally than other artistic media?

V: I’d say working with clothes. I really love fashion, and I just ended up working with clothing earlier this year. But everything is still so new to me, and I am still finding out what exactly is more interesting to work with.

BD: In revisiting your work years later, was there anything new or intriguing that you took away from the imagery that you hadn’t anticipated when originally creating it?

V: When I revisit my early works, I only feel like I didn’t know exactly what I was doing. But there is something I managed to build, a strong base, purely made through effort and passion, strong enough to shape what I do now.

BD: What can you tell us about your shared creative process in working with Clover Press for the collection?

V: Super smooth. We still have a lot of things to do, but they are super kind and respect all the requests I ask for. I don’t ask for that much, haha.

BD: Are there any other projects – past or current – that you would like to highlight for our readers?

V: I’m currently working on my own brand called Hex Termina. It is a mix of everything I find cool recently, and it’s probably my focus for the next few years.

BD: Lastly, in light of the Kickstarter campaign, are there any particular backer rewards that you would like to highlight?

V: A super cool one will be original sketches made only for this campaign. It should be super limited, but it’s my first time ever doing something like this. A rare opportunity for people who would love to have something that I consider part of me.
