Welcome back to The Preview Party, the blog that looks at the coolest, new comic books and graphic novels available to pre-order from this month’s Previews magazine.
BOOM! Studios recently announced that they will be adding Regular Show to their line of all-ages comics based off Cartoon Network’s hugely popular cartoons. The Preview Party had the opportunity to ask series writer K.C. Green a few questions about the new series.
The Previews Party: For readers who haven’t seen the show before, what is Regular Show all about?
K.C. Green: Regular Show is about two dudes who work at a park. They are pretty much slackers and like video games and going to the coffee shop. Crazy things happen to them all the time. I can’t say much more that the show doesn’t better explain itself. You should watch some episodes if you haven’t seen it.
The Previews Party: What can hardcore Regular Show fans expect from the book?
K.C. Green: More of the same, but written by me. Maybe stories that might be longer compared to the regular show length? Maybe weirder concepts if I can get Pizza Dog approved as a story.
The Previews Party: How has working on your web comic, Gunshow, prepared you for writing Regular Show?
K.C. Green: It’s gotten me used to working on a schedule and just doing the work. That is a good muscle to work out; you have got to be on time or else people will be mad at you. Do your work and move on to the next one.
The Previews Party: Since this is “The Previews Party,” are there any other upcoming comic books that you are very excited for?
K.C. Green: More from brother series Adventure Time and Bravest Warriors. I enjoy the shows and the comic series. I don’t keep up with much else. Oh, and more Nancy collections from Fantagraphics. I love those.
The Previews Party: Okay, time for the hard pitch. Why should Regular Show earn a coveted spot on my readers’ pull lists?
K.C. Green: Because we’re going to do our best for you.
The Previews Party would like to thank K.C. Green for joining me for this interview and the fine folks at BOOM! Studios for setting it up. Regular Show will be hitting store shelves this April, but make sure you pre-order it and ask your retailer about the special pre-order variant cover by the incredibly talented Chris Houghton.
Until next time, keep reading.
