The following is an interview with Stuart Moore regarding the recent release of the comic book series, Edgar Allen Poe’s Snifter of Death, from AHOY Comics. In this interview, Fanbase Press Editor-in-Chief Barbra Dillon chats with Moore about the types of Poe-inspired tales that readers can anticipate, the other upcoming projects that are in the works, and more!

Barbra Dillon, Fanbase Press Editor-in-Chief: With the spooktacular Halloween season approaching, AHOY Comics is getting into the spirit of things with a new season of Edgar Allen Poe’s Snifter of Death.  With a mix of comedy and horror, what kinds of Poe-inspired tales are in store for readers with the upcoming release?

Stuart Moore: Issue #1 features a new story in Mark Russell and Peter Snejbjerg’s popular MONSTER SERIALS series. Quakers, Oats, Vampires…it’s crunchy, sugar-coated horror that goes down easy with milk.

The second story is my collaboration with genius cartoonist and AHOY Secret Weapon Frank Cammuso. I thought it would be funny to show Edgar Allan Poe as a boy…trying to be a detective, painting a mustache on his lip to look older, and traveling around with his trusty pet raven.

Thankfully, Frank was around to actually MAKE it funny. His characters are full of animated energy, and he draws the best bar full of rough dockworkers that I’ve ever seen.

BD: As with all of AHOY Comics’ releases, there are many incredible extra features included with each project.  What can readers anticipate from these latest release?

SM: Foxes, goats, pickled eggs, Hansel and Gretel, and some of that hilarious homophone humor that Poe fans have been clamoring for. All right already! We “herd” you!

BD: Are there any other upcoming projects on which you are currently working that you would like to share with our readers?

SM: I wrote a story for Interpop’s EMERGENTS PRESENTS #2, out now. And I have a very ambitious new AHOY series in the works, but if I say its name out loud, the supply chain will explode. Haha! Topical humor, and it only makes you cringe a little!

BD: Lastly, what is the best way for our readers to find more information about Snifter of Death and your other work?

SM: Very kind of you to ask! I have a website, which I keep updated (mostly) with my current and past work, both comics and novels. AHOY’s own website is a treasure trove of past and present comics, free illustrated prose stories, and funny pictures of comic-book people. And look, I’m there, too!
