The following is an interview with Bradley Golden regarding the upcoming slate of Second Sight Publishing’s 2021 comic book titles.  In this interview, Fanbase Press Editor-in-Chief Barbra Dillon chats with Golden about the creative process of bringing the stories to life, what defines a Second Sight Publishing title, and more!

Barbra Dillon, Fanbase Press Editor-in-Chief: Congratulations on the upcoming releases of Second Sight Publishing’s catalog of titles!  What inspired the launch of the comic book publishing company?

Bradley Golden: I have been writing comics for 2 years with Antarctic Press on their titles Mangazine and Exciting Comics. I also created the horror titles Leave on the Light and Cold Blooded. I learned a lot from Ben Dunn and Joe Dunn about the industry. When they brought in Brian Denham, who is a great creator and doing a great job over at Antarctic Press, I realized that I had the training I needed to go out on my own. I wanted to be a hub where indie creators could get their visions and stories to the masses.

BD: For our readers who may be unfamiliar with your company, what defines a Second Sight Publishing book?

BG: A Second Sight Publishing book is a book that is diverse and unique, and it will take chances on source materials that some companies deem too controversial.

BD: You have quite a few titles slated to be distributed through Diamond starting in January 2021.  Which can you share with our readers about these titles in advance of their pre-order availability?

BG: Yes, we have four titles slated to debut in this January Previews. One from each line in our company: we have Lady Freedom from our superhero line, Freedomverse; we have The Edge coming from our sci-fi and adventure line Secondverse; we have the Leave on the Light trade paperback coming from the horror line of Second Sight Publishing Presents; and last we have Book of Lyaxia coming in from the sci-fi and adventure line Secondverse. Each title have a uniqueness to them that is like watching a movie.

BD: What can you tell us about the shared creative process of the staff and creators at Second Sight who are bringing the stories to life?

BG: At Second Sight Publishing, we allow the creators to be free to tell their vision without a lot of the over-the-shoulder looking as I would say. We do go in and make edits to things we feel don’t flow well with the story, or things that will enhance the overall impact of tale. Mostly, we let the creators create.

BD: At Fanbase Press this year, our #StoriesMatter initiative endeavors to highlight the impact that stories can have on audiences of various mediums.  How do you feel that Second Sight’s stories will connect with and impact readers?

BG: Oh, right off the bat, we have titles for each genre and niche. We will soon add in an all-ages line for younger readers. I feel our stories are original enough to make the readers feel that they are reading something different and special.

BD: Are there any other projects on which you are currently working that you are able to share with our readers?

BG: Yes, we currently signed an exclusive deal with Caliber Comics to publish our horror anthologies, Mississippi Zombie and Harvest of Horror. I believe those will appeal to the die-hard indie fans.

BD: Lastly, what would you like to tell fans who want to learn more about Second Sight Publishing?

BG: Please follow us on our website at www.secondsightpublishing.com or on Twitter at @BRADLEYGOLDEN4.
