Greetings, fellow Amazons! Just when you thought there couldn’t possibly be more exciting Wonder Woman news coming out of the pipeline, here it is.

DC digital-first continues to give fans what they wants by crossing over two of its popular titles with Batman ’66 Meets Wonder Woman ’77, referring to each character’s titular television series, respectively.  The title was announced at New York Comic Con over the weekend.

DC’s Batman ’66, based on the classic television series starring Adam West, has been a hit for years, so it only made sense to give Wonder Woman the same treatment with a digital-first Wonder Woman ’77, based on the Lynda Carter television series. Wonder Woman ’77 was a hit to no one’s surprise, as Lynda Carter and the television series have maintained a cult following and world-wide affection since its cancellation years ago.

The Batman series has proven so successful that an animated movie, featuring series originals Adam West, Burt Ward, and Julie Newmar reprising their roles, based on the series is getting excellent reviews and a sequel with Mark Hamill lending his vocal talents to the villain of Two-Face is already in the works. And you know that’s gonna be good!

I recently did a column stating how Wonder Woman ’77 deserved her own animated feature, and, excitedly, I think we are ever closer to that reality. Can an animated Wonder Woman be on the horizon? Can animated Batman ’66 meets animated Wonder Woman ’77 be that far behind?  How cool would that be to hear Lynda Carter and Adam West in the same movie? Of course, the ultimate fan fantasy would be Batman ’66 Meets Wonder Woman ’77 Meets Superman ’78.

The digital-first series will be released in November written by Batman ’66 writer Jeff Parker and Wonder Woman ’77 writer Marc Andreyko. Art will be supplied by David Hahn and Karl Kesel.

With a digital series on the horizon, can an animated version be that far from reality?

That’s it for Wonder Woman Wednesday. See you next week. And as always be sure to check out I Am Wonder Fan on Facebook.
