the god sister mt 286By Michael Fitzgerald Troy

Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang continue their thrilling run on the new Wonder Woman, as Issue #3 opens in the aftermath of Issue #2, as the Amazons torch their dead sisters and build paradise lost anew, as they have so many times in the past. Kinda makes you “wonder” how there is a neverending supply of the female warrior race without a single penis within a three-mile radius?

“I will spend a lifetime… to take back this day,” says Queen Hippolyta, and one I won’t soon forget as Wonder Woman‘s origin is turned on its ear. Arkel née Artemis calls Wonder Woman “Clay,” referring derogatorily to her legendary origin of being sculpted by her mother and being prayed to life by the powers-that-be in the sky. Nice to know bullying exists on the hypocritical isle of peaceful, warrior lesbians. Hippolyta spills the beans, admitting she did the wild thing with Zeus and got knocked up by the king of Gods. Knowing that his wife, Hera, would be super p.o.-ed, they cooked up the whole Clay Pigeon b.s. as a way to keep Hera from pulling a Susan Smith on baby Diana. (Gods can be a little high faulting.) Shockingly, the ideal seeped in truth finds her life to be a lie.  Her Goth-looking half-sister, Strife, certainly isn’t making things any better for Diana in all her purple-skinned, wine drinking weirdness.

Kudos to Brian Azzarello for doing what no writer before him (no disrespect) has been able to do. By making her a god, he has made her human. In a character-defining momen,t she proclaims she is not “Diana,” she is not “Clay.” She is Wonder Woman. Yes, she is!

Michael Troy is a deeply superficial person. Born in the midwest in the ’70s, Michael came to Los Angeles to pursue his bi-polar career path as an actor and artist. 2005 saw the release of Michael’s first published book, Homo-Hero’s Big Book of Fun and Adventure (www.greencandypress.com). Michael has contributed to the Lady Gaga comic book from Bluewater Productions and has his hand in various other upcoming projects. Michael has performed stand-up comedy at all of the major comedy clubs in Los Angeles and is making his triumphant return to the main stage of The Comedy Store in September. Michael offers an off-beat sense of humor as the star of such youtube cult classics As The Gays on Film (www.youtube.com/fullfrontaltv), A Minute With Margot, a loving tribute to Superman legend Margot Kidder (http://www.youtube.com/user/rktcommander), and currently hosts a vlog style series Lethally Blonde over at www.monsterburg.com. Sitting alongside industry heavyweight Phil Jimenez at the “Divas and Lassoes” panel for the 2010 San Diego comic-con, Michael maintains and cherishes his “underground” status. A staunch believer in Blonde Ambition, Michael hopes his new comic about shallow blonde super heroes in Los Angeles, The Blonde Squad, will set the world on fire (or at least brighten it a bit). Check out Michael Troy and Lethally Blonde updates here!!!
