With thousands of creators utilizing crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo to make those works a reality, we will highlight these talented creators and their noteworthy campaigns through #CrowfundingFridays! We hope that you will join us in giving these projects a moment of your time (and possibly your support).
Project #1: i-DOPPELGäNGER
What it’s about: i-DOPPELGäNGER: Portrait of the Comic Book Editor in the 21st Century charts Shelly Bond’s creative career “up and down the corporate ladder to running a small press with Philip Bond, my favorite comic book artist/husband.” Bond has made a career of editing award-winning books, and this is a phenomenal way to garner her sage advice on the how-to’s and what-not-to-do’s of the industry.
Bond was the the editor of the Eisner award-winning series, Bitter Root, Fables, and The Sandman: Overture. She is also the Editor-in-Chief of OFF REGISTER PRESS, the Comics & Design Lab she runs with her husband, artist Philip Bond. A former DC/Vertigo Executive Editor for over two decades, Bond teaches Comics Editing and Self-Publishing for Portland State University and on Zoom.

Project #2: Tamashi – Volume 11
What it’s about: Tamashi is an indie manga series (ongoing since 2017) about a girl named Tamashi who suddenly wakes up in a new world called The Ancient Land. While in the Ancient Land, she discovers she has become the Child of the Moon and now can control all aspects related to the moon. However, she is not the only one!
She is one of many Children of the Ancient Land who hold powers over different aspects of nature like fire, water, smoke, shield, speed, life and much more. Tamashi must journey through the Ancient Land to hopefully find her way back home. She is helped by Sui-mo, a monk boy who is the Child of Fire. Together, they have been traveling the Ancient Land running into all kinds of characters and monsters. (Even a dragon!)

Project #3: Legendary X-Knights #1
What it’s about: Legendary X-Knights is about three queer martial artists from different backgrounds, generations, and walks of life – initially strangers – who are brought together by messages from the future and given access to unimaginable powers accessed by meditating on their darkest thoughts. They must form a team and unravel a Vampire conspiracy at the heart of America. The art is inspired by Golden Age and Silver Age classics, particularly the art of Jack Kirby.
Created by queer and non-white artists, it channels the voices of those historically silenced, telling bold, unapologetic stories about justice, unity, and resistance.
