Here at Fanbase Press, we strive to provide an outlet for up-and-coming creators to promote and showcase their incredible works. With thousands of creators utilizing crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo to make those works a reality, we will highlight these talented creators and their noteworthy campaigns through #CrowfundingFridays! We hope that you will join us in giving these projects a moment of your time (and possibly your support).

Project #1: 3W/3M [ONE]

What it’s about: Back in 2021, Jonathan Hickman, Mike del Mundo, Mike Huddleston, and Nick Spencer launched an ambitious, new project called 3 Worlds / 3 Moons. The idea was to create not just a book or a single story, but an entire universe, a fully-realized setting that could serve as a backdrop for countless stories. In the three years since then, they have done exactly that (3w3m.com), with a community of over 30,000 subscribers, producing over a thousand pages of comics and world-building lore so far.

But they always knew that this universe-building phase would come to an end, and it would be time to launch what they’d made out into the broader world, as the focus shifts from theory to practice, lore to ongoing narrative, and from concepts to characters.

With the launch of this Kickstarter, they’re thrilled to announce 3W/3M [ONE], the ultimate starting point to the new universe. This opening volume – available as a beautiful deluxe hardcover or as a collection of three standalone prestige editions – contains the core stories that set the stage for everything to come.

Project #2: The Weakest Fish

What it’s about
: A coming-of-age thriller from critically acclaimed Sundance fellow and IFF Boston Grand Jury Prize Award-winning director Bryan Wizemann (About Sunny), featuring art by National Young Graphic Novel and Pixelatl Chinelo Award-winning Mexican artist Edgar Camacho (Onion Skin).

Adapted from the original screenplay first written in 1999, the beautifully illustrated 290-page graphic novel explores themes of love and jealousy, loss and fear, escape and redemption, superstition and the natural world; inspired by Southern Gothic folklore and Mexican culture.

In 1961, outside Nacogdoches, Texas, thirteen-year-old Tim accidentally witnesses his mother having an affair. When his family’s secrets ultimately collide, Tim must flee to Mexico on foot, where he discovers a new world.

Project #3: The Long Death

What it’s about
: What if Hansel and Gretel walked into the woods and found a nightmare worse than a witch?

The Long Death is a gothic fairytale about two children, Iris & Victor, who escape a home which has been decimated by plague.  Their hope is to find safety in West Arcanshire where Iris has an aunt.  Following a path through the woods, Victor strays to a hidden farmhouse when he smells a savory stew.  What they find is a dark secret that starts at the cleaver of The Butcher, and The Old Crone, his malevolent mother.

The Long Death is a complete 80 page graphic novel written by John Kratky and with art by Anna Wieszczyk that wishes to take you away into this dream-like landscape of ghostly revenge.
