Here at Fanbase Press, we strive to provide an outlet for up-and-coming creators to promote and showcase their incredible works. With thousands of creators utilizing crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo to make those works a reality, we will highlight these talented creators and their noteworthy campaigns through #CrowfundingFridays! We hope that you will join us in giving these projects a moment of your time (and possibly your support).

Project #1: Animating Cradle: Bestselling Fantasy Novels Come to Life!

What it’s about: Cradle, the New York Times best-selling fantasy book series that started as a self-publishing operation a decade ago, has returned to its grassroots beginnings in its adaptation for animation – alongside award-winning Lex+Otis Animation Studio – with a Kickstarter designed to give fans even greater connection to the stories, realms, and characters of the popular fable.

Will Wight, author of the books and founder of Hidden Gnome Publishing, has combined his celebrated writing talents with the acclaimed artistry of Jay Oliva and his Lex+Otis team to initiate the Kickstarter for Cradle: Unsouled, an animated depiction of the series’ first book.

Project #2: Safer Places

What it’s about
: From road trips to doctors’ offices to the mysterious spaces under the house, Kit Anderson’s short stories explore the secrets and magic typically unseen in everyday life. A walk through the forest, a family move, a day in a normal life – Anderson’s depictions of these ordinary moments transform them with a double-take, revealing the strangeness, surreality, and transformation within.

With powerful and personal emotional writing and art, thoughtfully combining magic and life as we all know it – these stories establish Kit Anderson as a presence in short comics-format fiction.

Project #3: Help Nostalgic Comic Shop Ring in the New Year

What it’s about
: As we begin 2024, the comic shops left standing are becoming fewer and fewer. Sites like Amazon make it so hard to compete, and local businesses are suffering.

If we want physical stores to continue and physical books to be in our hands, we need to support our small local businesses. Peter [Mellini] has made Nostalgic Comic Shop [in San Gabriel, CA] a hangout spot, creative space, and home for so many of us. So, let’s do what we can to help our fav comic slinger out.

I know he hates asking for help, but he never hesitates to give help. Even $1 would make a difference.
