Here at Fanbase Press, we strive to provide an outlet for up-and-coming creators to promote and showcase their incredible works. With thousands of creators utilizing crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo to make those works a reality, we will highlight these talented creators and their noteworthy campaigns through #CrowfundingFridays! We hope that you will join us in giving these projects a moment of your time (and possibly your support)!

Project #1: Monster Matador: Volume 1

What it’s about: Monster Matador is a delightfully demented Kaiju throw-down that follows Matador Ramon Alejandro Estévez Guerrero as he travels a post-apolcalyptic future to fight monsters and make a better world for his daughter. This campaign is to raise funds to print Monster Matador: Volume One — a 184 page TPB and HARDCOVER collecting Tango of the Matadors, Afripocalypse, PLUS an ALL-NEW STORY that sees the Matador reuniting with his daughter and setting up the next phase of our story AND a Study Guide by Dr. Theresa Rojas (Professor, Modesto Junior College). Written by Steven Prince (NIGHTMARE THEATRE), drawn by RINGO AWARD NOMINEE Fabio Alves (BANJAX, THE JUMP), and colored by Alex Zief (CULT OF DRACULA), Monster Matador has funded four Kickstarters thanks to our backers and fans to become an indie comic hit!

Project #2: The BeBop Bao

What it’s about
: In a time when we might feel the most divided or alone, we bring you a 132-page collection of 16 stories from 37 creators to remind us of the things that bring us together. The team has worked with the ideas of food, family, and memories to create some truly heartwarming, strange, emotional, and action-packed adventures. You’ll be inspired by the stories, touched by the memories, and excited by the culinary creations within these pages. So, settle in and get ready for a reading experience that will stick with you long after you’ve finished the last page!

Project #3: Alberta Comics: Home

What it’s about
: A 224-page comics anthology celebrating the comic creators connected to Alberta, featuring 43 short comic stories and cartoons inspired by the theme ‘home’. Be it positive or negative, our homes help create us. These last few years of distancing, cohorts and quarantines have made that even clearer. “Home” was a natural choice for the theme of the inaugural issue of our Alberta Comics anthology. A home becomes a haven as the outside world descends into chaos. It might also feel like a cage. A setting can have as much character as a person. We long for places for their beauty, but more often we’re seeking a reunion with a person, family or community. All of our comics artists and writers live or have lived in Alberta, or are working with a writer or lead-artist living in Alberta. It’s being published by Renegade Arts Entertainment, a small press, family run, comics-publisher based in Canmore, Alberta. We asked creators for stories about characters who relate strongly to their space, their base, or their roots.
