New Jersey’s largest indoor toy, comic, collectibles, and gaming con, ToyConNJ, was held the weekend of November 12 and 13 at the PAL building in Parsippany. Over 30,000 square feet of gyms, utilities rooms, and hallways held over 200 eight-foot tables filled with vintage and contemporary toys, movie memorabilia, comic books, video games, artwork, and more. From hard-to-find G.I. Joes to the latest Funko POP! figures, the vendors offered a huge range of toys at reasonable prices.

ToyConNJ also had an open gaming room with table-top games, arcade games, and video consoles. On Saturday, Brandon DiCamillo, the Mortal Kombat record holder, welcomed challengers in the gaming room. Outside, there was bullseye virtual reality laser combat.

There were also photo ops with R2-D2 and Robot B-9, cosplay contests for kids and adults, film screenings, door prizes, face painting, toy appraisals, and a food truck. With plenty to buy, see, and do, ToyConNJ had something for everyone. The vendors were friendly toy aficionados. One even gave my 3-month-old son a free bear beanie baby since it was his first toy con. And, hopefully, in ten years, he will appreciate his photo with R2!
