As conventions return to in-person events, we at Fanbase Press feel that it is important and necessary to provide virtual access to those individuals who may experience barriers to attending such events, as well as the panel programming that occurs onsite. In the years to come, our goal is to provide as many virtual panel opportunities as possible to provide greater access not only to viewers, but to the experienced and knowledgeable panelists who may also be limited by access.
With the rise in censorship and book bans, the damaging effects of generative AI, and the threats of tariffs that will increase printing and publishing costs, it is more necessary than ever to be politically engaged to safeguard your and the comics industry’s well-being.
To provide an opportunity for our community members to learn how they can take action and effect real, meaningful change, Fanbase Press hosted a virtual forum on Sunday, September 21, 2025, moderated by Fanbase Press Editor-in-Chief Barbra Dillon.
This virtual forum also included the following featured panelists:
- Jose Pimienta (writer/illustrator – Twin Cities, Halfway to Somewhere, Suncatcher)
- Matthew Noe (Lead Collection & Knowledge Management Librarian at Harvard Medical School, Part-Time Instructor in Library Science at the University of Kentucky)
