‘Ether #2:’ Advance Comic Book Review

Matt Kindt’s most recent book, Ether, finds a scientist from our world venturing into a world of nothing but magic to help solve a murder mystery. This is a weird, wonderful book, and, so far, I like it, though I have no idea exactly what this book is going to end up actually being about.

Someone has been killed by magical bullets that literally open their mouths and scream after they’ve been fired from the gun. Incapable of logically figuring anything out due to their reliance on magic, they ask our hero with his assistant, a weird ape-like creature that has to punt him into this weird, surreal world, and they seem to be getting into deeper trouble.

Every inch of this book is bizarre in such a wonderful way, even how the hero gets into the world. It’s so morose, yet so perfect. David Rubin’s artwork is also perfect. When our hero steps into this strange world, it almost becomes like you’re entering Toontown!

Two issues in and it’s worth a look-see.
