‘Earth Alliance #2:’ Comic Book Review

It’s been awhile since Earth Alliance #1 came out – some 14+ months.  So, it took me a minute to remember what it was all about, and I re-read Earth Alliance #1 so I could get some context.  For those of you who don’t remember, Earth and an alien species are struggling over energy source-rich planets diplomatically.  Both the humans and the aliens act kind of like a-holes, and the aliens attack us, starting a war.

Now, here we are – our fearless hero is the human military leader’s son, and he is a cadet on a ship in the middle of nowhere.  Or is it?  Things happen, stuff goes down.  And you know – when stuff and things are involved, it’s always interesting.

Why read it?  Because it’s good.  Issue two moves away from the diplomacy and strategy – also from the parallels that we see today in our politics – and starts reading more like a sci-fi action comic.  It has some Battlestar Galacta and definitely some Ender’s Game in it. The characters are likeable, and the story remains compelling.  So… should you read it?

Totally.  If you’re into this stuff.  If you like Conan and stuff, this might be far afield – but if you’re a sci-fi nerd like me, this will be entertaining and interesting.  Pick it up and read it, amigos.
