‘Star Trek: The Mirror War #2’ – Advance Comic Book Review

Back in the mid-1990s, TV show Star Trek: Deep Space Nine visited the “evil” Mirror Universe on several occasions. Since then, the Universe has shown up in the prequel TV shows, Enterprise and Discovery. We never saw a Next Generation version on screen. In 2017, IDW created a comic book limited series focused on who these characters would be.

In Star Trek: Mirror War #2, we continue to follow the Mirror Universe versions of the Next Generation‘s Enterprise crew – Captain Picard, Riker, Data, La Forge, Dr. Crusher, and Deanna Troy, Barkley, and O’Brien – interacting with the ships and aliens that they are so familiar with. This issue continues the story in a great way.

Being the third part of a 13-chapter epic makes it difficult to review this issue as a single comic book; however, there were events in this issue that shed light on exactly when the story is taking place. It revisits characters seen in the TV shows and connects the comic to the live-action series in a really fantastic way.

Writers Scott and David Tipton continue to tell a great tale. The battles are exciting, and it’s fun to visit with old friends not seen for over 20 years. The art by Gavin Smith continues to be fantastic.
