‘TMNT Universe #9:’ Advance Comic Book Review

It’s been almost two months since we last read about our favorite heroes-in-a-half-shell, particularly in the world of TMNT Universe.  And, it looks like we’re going to have to wait a little longer, as this month takes us back to the stories of Angel and Alopex.

So, while the Turtles are dealing with Metal-Don and his huuuuuuuuuugely upgraded body, the slyest fox and her techie friend are hiding out in a barn in the middle of nowhere.  But when their peaceful trip downstream is swallowed by a toad—literally—their day of rest and relaxation turns into another one of trickery and disguise.  A mutant who calls himself The Toad Baron, a relative of Kitsune, has trapped Angel and Alopex in some sort of hallucinogenic world, and there’s no way he’ll let our two heroes escape alive…

Meanwhile, Master Splinter tries to keep his Foot in line in “What is Ninja?”  He teaches us all a valuable lesson not to “trip on what lies behind us,” but instead to always keep a mind’s eye on the future, for “the future is limitless.”

Congratulations to writer Sophie Campbell for her fascinating, new storyline with legendary TMNT author Bobby Curnow.  Their cliffhanger is fun and exciting, and with beautiful, trippy artwork by Pablo Tunica, I can only hope this story lasts for multiple issues.  Not to mention Brahm Revel’s revealing finish to “What is Ninja?”

I’m only glad that TMNT Universe continues to keep on giving to our own universe…

Until next issue,
#TurtlePower
