This four-part series created by Liz Prince and Amanda Kirk (with coloring by Hannah Fisher) tells the story of the band Coady and the Creepies, an-all girl (triplets in fact) punk band on tour that got into a car accident that harmed two, killed the band manager, and left one sister unharmed. It's not told how it happened, but cuts to a year later when we find the band on the last leg of a cross-country tour.
If you've ever gotten the feeling that there's something off or different about someone, then you'll dig this book. Slightly in the vein of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, we cut between characters, their lives, and their style. Their acceptance, tenacity, and idiosyncrasies don't define them but help to distinguish them all.
If I told you much more, I'd be doing you a disservice. This book had me read it over a few times, and I caught a few things I hadn't before, like watching a movie and noticing something that you didn't see before.
Especially as a 4-shot series, take the time to check it out and see if it fits your tastes. I'd love to know what music you think the girls would listen to, so leave them in the comments section below. Who knows, maybe someone will post your new favorite band.
You can thank me later.
