‘TMNT Ongoing #66:’ Advance Comic Book Review

Well, the new year is officially here, and the holidays have gone as quickly as they came . . . but not before our favorite heroes-in-a-half-shell threw themselves a well-deserved holiday party.

Last month, in TMNT #65, even though no one was speaking to one another, everyone who’s anyone seemed to easily find out about the Christmas party Michelangelo was throwing together.  The Mutanimals came.  April and Casey came.  Angel was there.  Even the pizza delivery guy, Woody, showed up.  And after Donatello managed to cause a power outage, that surely brought everyone together through the power of laughter.

This month, in TMNT #66, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles get back to searching for their friend, Alopex.  If you recall, in the last battle between Kitsune and The Foot Clan, Alopex’s mind became controlled by Kitsune as her best chance of survival against Master Splinter.  But now, Angel and Raphael have traveled all the way to Alaska in search of their friend…and Raph’s crush?  Let’s just hope they can help Alopex rid herself of Kitsune’s mind control once and for all.

Master story writers Kevin Eastman, Bobby Curnow, Tom Waltz, and newcomer Sophie Campbell have started the year off strong with this beautiful issue about love and finding one’s inner self.  Just last year, I learned that it takes many struggles before we can succeed, and I believe the same goes for Alopex.  And Sophie Campbell shows off her many talents with her artistically dark drawings, mixed with colors by Ronda Pattison, making for a beautiful issue throughout.

Congratulations to this entire team for their fantastic start to a brand new year!

Until next month,
#TurtlePower
