But what is the series about? There is a briefcase that exists that is passed around. If it falls into your hands, you have three days to give it to the person you hate most, or it will go to the person you love the most. Don’t open it. New Secret Service agents are given a year to track it down. For our two protagonists, Winters is threatening to not stop looking for it, and Mitchum wants to be done with it. They are coming upon their final days to find it, and they are close—closer than perhaps they’d like to be.
There is a lot to unpack with this series: the racial undertones and what fear means to our culture in dealing with race. Talking about how stories matter is one of the core missions of Fanbase Press, and Matt Kindt and the Jenkins team are addressing those issues in an incredibly intelligent way through this story. After the twist at the end of issue three, how this four-issue series will play out will hopefully tie together some of my thoughts.
Either way, I’m excited just to be here.
