Joe Madureira's art would be enough to make me read the Sears catalogue, so I was pleased as sucker punch to hear of the new Avenging Spider-Man series from Marvel. Conceptually, a little confusing. Clearly a Spider-Man book, as the Avengers only appear peripherally (and, even I couldn't help but drool over his Spider-Woman). An obvious ploy from Marvel to make it an Avengers and Spidey book, two of their biggest franchises both with movies coming out this summer and with art by one of the most popular artists going. Who can blame them for wanting to make a coin in this crap economy?

It seems as if the world at large is clamoring for a war between Madonna and Lady Gaga, and after calling Gaga's music "reductive" during her 20/20 interview, the world at large just may have gotten their wish.
All my reader - I mean readers - know that I am a huge Lady Gaga fan, having created a Going Gaga! Lady Gaga tribute comic and also contributing to Bluewater Productions' The Fame line Lady Gaga biocomic. It should come as no surprise that I am a bigger Madonna fan. I was even maliciously referred to as "That Madonna freak" in high school. Don't cry for me, Argentina; I'm sure those cretins will come to a bad end.

Well, hello, Dolly. Well, hello, Dolly - it's so nice to have you back where you belong. It's been 19 years since Dolly Parton has appeared on film, and Joyful Noise marks her triumphant return to the silver screen, and I couldn't be more thrilled.
9 to 5 was the first 45 record I ever owned (If you don't know what a 45 is, kiddies, do grandma a favor and look it up.), and I fell in love with Dolly instantly. With an angelic voice that sounds like a marshmallow soaked in honey, a platinum blonde wig halfway to heaven, and two ginormous pumped up ti- er... um lips, what's not to love?

I'm not sure what the proper way is to describe The Golden Globes awards show, but I think Oscar's red-headed step child evokes the right idea.
The Globes are an all-over-the-place popularity contest, whose outcome is largely based upon who kisses enough Foreign Press ass and/or sends the most expensive gift bags during award show campaigning.

A couple of weeks ago, DC finally released the controversial Elseworld's Finest 100-Page Giant. It was supposed to come out years ago and was recalled and destroyed based on some controversial subject matter. About 80 copies survived, making it an instant collector's item, lessened, I suppose, by its subsequent release. I guess Batman wearing nothing more than a cowl and Infant Superman's babysitter letting him play in the microwave weren't the images DC wanted to present at the time. Now, in the age of Casey Anthony and assassin Obama, I suppose it's tame in comparison.

If the old adage "The higher the hair, the closer to God" has any truth to it, the Long Island Medium's Theresa Caputo must be high as a kite, or so seems the bubbly, over-the-top medium (don't call her psychic!) and subject of TLC's Long Island Medium. This is my new favorite show and certainly the best thing to come out of Long Island since my friend, Rita. Hi, Ro!
Long Island Medium centers around real-life medium Theresa Caputo and her adorable family. With a frosted Darth Vader Helmet, nails longer than Hell, and a personality almost as big as her hair, the Long Island Medium is strangely addictive.

Thankfully, my esteemed colleague Barbra Dillon so eloquently covered the nuts and bolts of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo in her spot-on film review of David Fincher's new feel bad thriller adaptation of TGWTDT; that way I can stick to my silly, inane rantings.
Let me be clear, I loved everything about this flick. I've been a fan of Fincher since he directed Madonna's "Vogue" video. (It's true!) Suffice it to say, he's gotten somewhat edgier since then. Although, he did direct NIN's "I Wanna Eff You Like an Animal" vid. Perhaps, that's why Trent Reznor supplied the totally bitchin' soundtrack for this tour de force. (Look out, stairmaster. Here I come!)

Amongst DC's hit or miss on enjoyment/quality level of its random 52 pick up, Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang's take on Wonder Woman really is (Athena, forgive the holiday appropriate pun!) the gift that keeps on giving!
