Kirstie Alley: Dancing with the All-Stars Wonder Woman?

WW Kirstie MT*Please note that this article is an opinion-editorial.

Dancing with the Stars has kicked off its hundred and fifty-seventh season, this time in the form of an all-star version. (Apparently, there is a limit to the number of celebrities willing to don gay apparel and wiggle it, just a little bit, for the prime time audience at large.)

I’m tuning in ’till past favorites Pamela Anderson and Kirstie Alley get kicked off.  Hey!  I’m a loyal fanboy,  I was one of the 5 people who saw Barb Wire in the theater. The only one not wearing a trench coat, albeit, but present nonetheless.

Which brings us to Kirstie Allie.

Returning fan and critic favorite, Allie went far in her initial season.

Will she win this time? That would be awesome but unlikely;  I would imagine being an ex-Fat Actress and in your ’60s would stack the cards against you. Although Kirstie’s bod and verve prove 60 is the new 37. It’s kind of hard to do a physical competition against Olympic-level athletes. But, then again, everyone loves an underdog.

Speaking of another all-star hopeful that may never happen, am I the only one lamenting the uncertain fate of All-Star Wonder Woman?  Five years ago, master Wonder Woman cover artist extraordinaire Adam Hughes was slated to write and draw an All-Star Wonder Woman mini series. (Cue my fangasm!). ASWW remains in limbo. Hughes went on to do Catwoman and Batgirl covers, followed by his current project drawing Dr. Manhattan for the much ballyhooed Before Watchmen.  As exciting as it is to see Adam Hughes do for big, blue weenies what he did for major mammaries, this will either ignite his fire to dive into All-Star Wondy or drive him to the looney bin in a strait jacket, forced to draw buxom nurses with finger paints during arts and crafts.  I would prefer the former to the latter, but I suppose time shall tell.

Kirstie Alley has had as many ups and downs as Princess Diana. From hot Vulcan in her debut Star Trek role to replacing Shelley Long to no one’s chagrin (save Long’s) on the beloved sitcom Cheers to one of my favorite roles as rabid, mid-west pageant mom in Drop Dead Gorgeous to manic lingerie magnate and Fat Actress, life is always better when Kirstie is in front of the camera.

If they ever do make a Wonder Woman TV show, I vote for Kirstie as WW’s mother Queen Hippolyta.  With her statuesque beauty, dark hair, and piercing blue eyes, it makes me “wonder” if Alley had ever been considered for any other Hollywood WW incarnation in the past?  I suppose anything is possible. After all, Wonder Woman is now a demi-god.  And, Kirstie is a Scientologist.

Check out Kirstie tearing up the floor on the current season of DWTS: All-Stars.
