#CrowdfundingFridays: ‘Bixby Grant, Private Eye,’ ‘Still a Thread,’ ‘Decay #1-3,’ and ‘Home Free: Desert Green’

Here at Fanbase Press, we strive to provide an outlet for up-and-coming creators to promote and showcase their incredible works. With thousands of creators utilizing crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo to make those works a reality, we will highlight these talented creators and their noteworthy campaigns through #CrowfundingFridays! We hope that you will join us in giving these projects a moment of your time (and possibly your support)!

Project #1: Bixby Grant, Private Eye

What it’s about: Bixby Grant is a man with no reason to live, and no way to die. Ninety years ago, Bix unleashed the Pharaoh’s Curse and was turned into a living mummy! That very night, the love of his life, Dolores, was kidnapped, and despite his best efforts, Bix couldn’t save her. She disappeared, never to be seen again. In the years since Bix became a mummy, Harbor City has become a haven to it’s supernatural citizens; vampires, zombies, werewolves, witches, warlocks, spirits, demons and more. But the man best suited to deal with the troubles and complexities of such an eclectic town has shut himself out of it, choosing to smoke and drink his past away in solitude. Until a new client calls on Bix and convinces him to take her case; her husband, the son of a local business tycoon, has gone missing. Bix’s new client is worried for her husband’s life; there’s a full moon coming soon, and in Harbor City that means werewolves — LOTS of snarling, bloodthirsty, werewolves!

This is an 80-page prestige format graphic novel by creator/writer Patrick Coyle, artist Gonzalo Martinez (Road Story, Mocha Dick), colorist Arthur Hesli (Heavy Metal), letterer Steve Wands (Batman, The Flash), and editor Heather Antos (Deadpool, Star Wars).

Project #2: Still a Thread

What it’s about
: In a near-apocalyptic world, President Ruth Baez faces death to retrieve the life-saving water technology her citizens desperately need from a cynical, mercenary tyrant – the Russian president who insists she call him Sergei. When her last-ditch attempt at diplomacy doesn’t work, Ruth comes up with a totally unorthodox solution – a solution only possible in a world teetering on the brink of chaos. A fight to the death – not between armies, but between presidents. Still a Thread allows the viewer to spend time with Ruth in what may or may not be her final moments as she comes to terms with a seemingly impossible choice and has to explain herself to the people she loves most.

Project #3: Decay #1-3

What it’s about
: Jess brings her brother DK back from the dead when he gets shot at a house party but after he starts a murderous rampage for revenge she may come to regret that decision. Decay is a 5-issue comic book series written by Anthony D. Stokes, illustrated by Marc Oliver, and lettered by Es Kay. The funds for this campaign will be used on art, lettering, and printing physical copies. This campaign is essential to continuing the series to its conclusion.

Project #4: Home Free: Desert Green

What it’s about
:  In Home Free: Desert Green, Sara now journeys south to Mexico alone, and quickly finds that all the troubles that Emmy seemed to attract, may just have been her own. She finds herself just outside of Reno on a lonely expanse of California desert in search of a roll of cash she buried long ago, not because she didn’t need it, but because it’s as dirty as money comes. Little does she realize that she’s going to receive an unexpected visit while she’s at her most vulnerable, and she’s got nobody but herself to get out of it. Sara quickly understands that some old secrets should stay buried. The more dirt you remove from the surface, the more you’re going to have to face.
